1. We must study in a way approved unto God. 2 Tim. 2:15.
2. How would we come to know the Truth? The Spirit will reveal Truth to us. Jn. 14:26; Jn. 16:13,14.
3. How are we sure we would know the Truth? If we will to do God’s Will we will know the Truth. Jn. 7:16,17.
4. God has given us His Word so that we may know the Truth. Pr. 22:17-21.
5. The Truth makes us free from bondage to sin. Jn. 8:32; Rom. 6:18.
6. What is the grave importance of studying the Word of God?
a. Because we are born again with the Word of God. 1 Pet. 1:23; Jam. 1:18.
b. Our born again spiritual self is made up of the Truth. 1 Cor. 15:10; Tit. 2:11,12; 2 Cor. 4:6,7.
c. It is the Truth that makes our born again self grows. 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Cor. 4:16, Col. 3:10.
d. We study to grow in grace and in knowledge of Jesus Christ. 2 Pet. 3:18.
e. If we do not study we shall die spiritually and that means to end back up in sin. Jn. 6:53; Eph. 2:1,5; Col. 2:13.
f. Lack of study could make us become susceptible to error and cause us to fall. 2 Pet. 3:17.
7. The study of the word of God gives us Truth to make us perfect in all good works. 2 Tim. 3:15-17.
8. How do we benefit from Bible study?
a. As we study the Spirit unfolds Truth to us. 1 Jn. 2:27.
b. This Truth is always about the Gospel as it relates to our sins. Eph. 1:13; Rom. 1:16,17.
c. When we repent and believe these Truths, God justifies us or declares those truths as our new values in place of sin. Mk. 1:14,15; Acts. 13:39; 1 Cor. 15:10; Col. 3:16.
d. This is also separating us from sin or sanctifying us by the Truth. Jn. 17:17,19.
e. Thus we have the Truth in our hearts to keep us from sinning. Ps. 119:11; 1 Jn. 3:9.
f. Thus we have a strong mental, “spiritual influence” to make us obey the Law of God. 1 Jn. 3:9; Eze. 36:26,27.
9. We must therefore pray earnestly for light from God before we open the Bible to study. Jam. 1:5,6; 1 Jn. 5:14,15.
10. Finally, when we study we must dig deeply for hidden gems of Truth below the surface. Matt. 13:44,52.
