Sharing some further thoughts on the Sabbath Greeting "Happy Sabbath": On the point of saying "Blessed Sabbath, Holy Sabbath, or Pleasant Sabbath instead of "Happy Sabbath", I saw that men in the world would say and with good intention to each other "Be Happy". However as to the "way how" that is achieved, people generally have a host of different ideas in their mind. There was even a song at one time "Be happy don't worry". However the phrase "Be Happy" is not instructive in itself as how to be happy or pointed as Christians should in directing people to God. In a world where so much is overlooked and misunderstood our words need to be far more pointed and pregnant of spiritual truths. If one says "be Blessed" or "be Holy" instantly ones mind thinks of the source of blessings and holiness. Hence saying "Have Holy Sabbath" or "Blessed Sabbath" is better. While "Pleasant Sabbath" has with it the idea of doing things according to God's pleasure those things that are pleasant in His sight. as it is written:
Isaiah 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words
Furthermore the sanctifying knowledge that comes with Sabbath keeping can be referred to as Pleasant but that sanctifying knowledge cannot be referred to as "happy" which has with it the idea of the day being given by God for persons to "be happy" on the day. The focus of Sabbath keeping for us to to benifit from it must be God centered and not self centered. Hence the "Happy Sabbath" greeting should be replaced with words that are more Spiritual and instructive towards Sabbath keeping in holiness.
