Righteousness does not come by the works of the law neither does God put righteousness into an account outside of us, God must put His Righteousness which is Himself into our hearts that we may be empowered to do righteous works.
A central issue in the book of Galatians is that to be justified or to obtain Righteousness does not come by the works of the law (circumcision or the 10 commandments) - Gal.2:21(quoted below) but by the faith of Jesus - Gal.2:16 by which also we receive the Spirit Gal.3:2,5. In the same way by the faith of Jesus one receives the Spirit into the heart that one may bear fruits of the Spirit (Gal.5:22-26) it is the same way by the faith of Christ we receive the Righteousness of God that one could show the Righteousness of the faith of Jesus by works (James 2:18). If the just or the justified shall live by faith it means the Righteousness of the faith must be in them to motivate their living experience.
Gal.2:21
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Gal.2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Gal.3:2,5
"This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?"
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Gal.5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
James 2:18
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
