THIS IS A STUDY ON THE GOD-HEAD taken from REVELATION 13 STUDIES -THE THOMISTIC HEAD 1323 to 1545 ACB BY NYRON MEDINA CONTINUED
Concerning the humanity and divinity of Jesus, the Thomistic head propagated a unity that made the human body of Jesus divine which would sustain the false doctrines that Jesus had holy flesh or sinfree flesh and the Immaculate conception, or the teaching that Mary was born exempt from sin. We are told.
“It remains, therefore, that human nature is united to the Word neither accidentally nor essentially, but substantially in the sense that substance signifies a rational single substance according to person, or personally.” Ibid, pg. 460-461.
“But this incarnation is a unique union beyond all mods of union known to us…. Furthermore, by His infinite power he has been able to make a new mode of union wherein the human nature is united to the person of the Word, yet not accidentally although no satisfying example of this is found among creature.” Ibid, pg. 461.
“The person of the Word; is included in the nature of the Word, nor can it be extended to anything beyond it. But the nature of the Word by reason of its infinity includes every finite nature.” Ibid, pg. 463.
i. We are thus told that the human nature of Christ is united to the person of the Word who is divine or infinite.
ii. This logically gives divine status to the human nature of Jesus, so that when Mary gave birth to Jesus, she gave birth to God, thus Mary is the Mother of God.
iii. However, the Divine Nature dwelt IN the human body of Christ. 2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:9.
iv. The Divine Nature can be said to belong to the human person of Jesus through the divine Character, which is the Gospel of Christ, and in which the Divine Nature inseparably dwells, which is Jesus Character identity. (Jn. 1:1; Jn. 14:6; Gal. 2:14; 2 Jn. 9).
v. Mary had the human Jesus (“child”) conceived in her, not the Divine Nature. (Isa. 8:14; Isa. 9:6; Matt. 1:23.
vi. However, when the human nature of Jesus came out of the womb of Mary, the Divine Nature – God – was in Him. (Isa. 9:6; Col. 2:9; Lk. 2:11; Ps. 68:20; Ps. 97:5).
vii. Jesus was born with sinful human flesh which is not sin, because He was sinfree, He was born with human flesh affected by, not infected with sin. Rom. 8:3; Heb. 4:15.
o. Christ became man, according to Thomas, that He may make man divine, thus is fulfilled the original lie of the dragon who sought to be God with God. (Gen. 3: ; Isa. 14:12-14).
“And so he became man in order to make man divine.” Ibid, pg. 465.
“We are led to preserve the purity of our souls. By its union with God our nature was exalted and dignified to the extent of being taken up into union with a divine person.” Ibid, pg. 466.
i. However while the pope is thus exalted to be God with God in this teaching. 2 Thess. 2:3,4.
ii. God has no God with Him. Deut. 32:39.
iii. Nor is any God formed before the face of YHWH or after Him. This is the witness all men are called to say. Isa. 43:10-12.
