God dwells IN the persons; this is what Jesus demonstrated to us in His incarnation. 2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:9.
v. The three persons are identified as God because the divine nature belongs to them through the fact that the offices they hold are the offices of God. The offices of Will, Mediator, and Creative Agency are offices of God, and are divided up in the pattern of:
1. The Father has the office of Will. Jn. 5:30; Jn. 6:38, 39.
2. The Son has the office of Mediator. 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 12:24.
3. The Holy Spirit has the office of Creative Agency. Ps. 104:30; Job. 33:4.
vi. Thus the three persons are identified as God because they own the offices which are the offices of God. Heb. 10:7; Rom. 8:26, 27, 34; Col. 1:15-17.
vii. Furthermore the divine nature dwells in the doctrine of Christ, the Plan of Salvation, which is the Character of Christ, or the divine Character of God. Since the divine Character is the explanation of the divine nature, the two are inseparable. Since Jesus claimed to be the Truth, the divine Character is by this seen to be His own. This shows that God dwells in the persons through the divine Character, thus they are identified as God.
1. God the divine Nature dwells in the doctrine of Christ. 2 Jn. 9.
2. Christ is the Truth as His identity. Jn. 14:6;
3. The Truth is the Plan of Salvation, the Gospel. Gal. 2:5.
4. This is the divine Character of Christ. Rom. 1:16.
5. It is the divine Character of Christ because it is the only explanation of God, and only God can explain God. (Jn. 1:18; Matt. 11:27; Jn. 1:1; Isa. 43:11, 12).
