The bible teaches death of Christ is a provision with a moral substitutionary intent that we would be made sinfree by having the mind of Christ. The bible does not teach penal substitution - His death in our place. That is a pagan philosophy. Think of one scripture pertaining to Christ's death and evaluate the word "for" as pertains to Christ died "for" our sins. the word used in the greek is "huper" not "anti". huper means provision, while anti means substitute.
