1. We are living in perilous times. 2 Tim. 3:1-5.
2. Destruction upon destruction is coming. Jer. 4:19-28.
3. This is because men have changed the Law and Broken the Covenant. Isa. 24:1-5.
4. Few people will be left, escaping the destruction that is to come. Isa. 24:6; (Ps. 46).
5. These men are they that keep God's commandments. Rev. 12:17; Rev. 14:12.
6. How are we brought into obedience to God's Law? We must be born again. Jn. 3:3.
7. What does it mean to be born again? Jn. 3:5-8.
a. We have been born of the flesh thus we are fleshly. Jn. 3:6.
b. We have the carnal mind-the thought of the flesh. Rom. 8:6-8.
c. We need to be born of the Spirit to have a spiritual self. (Jn. 3:6; 1 Cor. 2:12,13,15).
d. We need to be born of water and of the Spirit. Jn. 3:5.
i. Water symbolizes the word of God. Eph. 5:26.
ii. To be born of water is to be born of the word of God. 1 Pet. 1:23.
e. To be born of the Spirit; first, the Spirit is truth. 1 Jn. 5: 6.
f. God gives his Spirit into our hearts. Gal. 4:6.
g. This way we are born of the Spirit of truth. Jam. 1:18.
8. We now have a new spiritual self - a born again self. 2 Cor. 4:16; Eph. 3:16,17.
9. It is made up of the truths of Christ. 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Cor. 4:6, 7.
10. This born-again self of truth - the new man dwells in the heart. (Col. 3:10; 1 Pet. 3:4).
11. It is through this born again self that we are righteous. 2 Cor. 5:17,21.
12. It is through this new true-self that we do good works. Eph. 2:10; 1 Cor. 15:10.
