Grace and peace in the name of Jesus Christ. According to Revelation 12:11 & Revelation 14:8-12 the faith of Jesus is what allows the saints to have the endurance or patience to not receive the mark of the beast, so it is important for us to re-examine what faith is:
What is Faith: It is the evidence or proof of things hoped for or the evidence or proof of things not seen (Heb11:1). This can only be the revealed truths of God, and can be referred to as the revealed word, the doctrine of Christ, the revealed teaching of Christ, the knowledge of God, the testimony of Jesus. This alone is the evidence or proof of things hoped for and of things not seen. The revealed word is the faith by which Abel obtained witness that He was righteous (Heb.11:4), Remember the Psalmist says thy word have I hid in my heart that I will not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11) and that all scripture is given by revelation (revealed word) and is profitable for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect (2Tim.3:16) . Thus Abel by the revealed word obtained witness that he was righteous. By the revealed word Noah was warned of God of things not seen. By the revealed word Abraham, sojourned in the land as in a strange country dwelling in tabernacles … for he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
We are saved by the faith of Jesus (Gal2:16, Phil3:9, 2Tim.3:15, Rev.14:12), so even self if faith was believing it would not be our believing but Christ’s believing.
Hebrews 11:1 gives us the definition. The rest of Hebrews 11 gives us the demonstration of how faith works as mentioned above.
The bible tells us that faith is something that is heard (Gal.3:2,5) - Do you hear believing.
The faith is something that is preached (Gal.1:23) – is believing something preached, no, but the revealed word is preached.
Something that was once delivered to the saints (Rom6:17) and that we are to contend for because ungodly men had unknowingly crept into the church and turned the faith (which is by the Grace of God) into lasciviousness/ lustfulness (Jude 3,4) - do we contend for the believing, no.
It is something that the unreasonable and wicked don't have this is why they can't please God (2Thes.3:2 & Heb.11:6), however the wicked can trust and believe.
It is a revelation that comes by the hearing of the word (Rom.10:17).
It is what we are justified by (Rom5:1) - believing is a mental work of the mind, and is of ourselves, while the revealed word is a gift of God, so we can’t boast of our mental work saving ourselves (Eph.2,9), so believing cannot justify us.
The revealed word is the means by which we are saved through grace (Eph.2:8).
It is what makes us children of Abraham or children of God (Gal.3:7,26).
It is the means by which we receive the blessing of the Spirit of Truth (Gal.3:14).
The thing that allows one to live just (Gal.3:11,Rom.1:17) for in the faith - the revealed truths – therein is the righteousness of God (Rom.1:16,17).
It is made up of word and is preached (Rom.10:8).
We are told “here is the patience of the saints they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus (which is the revealed word) – Rev14:12-. The context of this verse relates to those who were able to endure and not receive the mark of the beast (Rev.9-11. The text tells us the way how the saints endured, i.e. they kept the commandments of God and the revealed word or the faith of Jesus that they sin not (Psalms 119:11). Thus let us ready ourselves for the end by taking heed to the word of God and proper doctrinal teachings, the faith of Jesus.
