1. Man is in a terrible corrupt state. Isa. 1:5,6; Rom. 3:10-19.
2. His mind is the problem. Gen. 6:5; Pr. 23:7; Jer. 17:9.
3. He cannot please God in his state. Rom. 8:6-8.
4. Man cannot be saved in his present sinful state. Matt. 18:3; Lk. 13:3.
5. He must become a new person. Gal. 6:15.
6. Change from the old to the new man is therefore the important thing in true Bible religion in both Old Testament (First Witness) and New Testament (Second Witness).
a. Changed into another man. 1 Sam. 10:6,7,9.
b. Circumcised to love God with the Word within. Deut. 30:6,14.
c. A right spirit renewed within. Ps. 51:5-7,10.
d. A new heart and new spirit in place of the old. Eze. 11: 19,20; Eze. 36:25-27.
e. Inner cleansing first in place of the old. Matt. 23:25,26.
f. Born again new in place of the old. Jn. 3:3-8; 1 Pet. 1: 22,23; 1 Pet. 3:4.
g. New man in place of the old. Eph. 2:11-16; Eph. 4:17-25.
h. New creature (creation). 2 Cor. 5:14,15,17.
i. New man in place of the old. Rom. 6:3-8; Rom. 12:2.
i. New man in place of the old. Rom. 6:3-8; Rom. 12:2.
7. Thus it is clearly seen that change from the old to the new is necessary in Christianity. Gal. 2:18-20; Gal. 5:16-25.
