1. Terrible times are coming. 2 Tim. 3:1; Jer. 4:20-28.
2. We need a deeper experience in the things of God to face the crisis. 2 Tim. 2:15.
a. Experience is knowledge. 1 Cor. 2:9-12.
b. Thus a deeper experience is a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ. 2 Pet. 3:18.
3. Our minds need to be fortified with the Word of Truth. Ps. 119:11; 1 Jn. 2:27.
4. There is hope of sinfreeness. Jn. 8:10,11; 1 Jn. 5:4; 1 Jn. 3:6.
5. Exposition of Jam. 4:7-10.
a. Vs. 7. “Submit …”
i. To submit to God is to first deny your ideas and knowledge no matter how good they may seem to be to you.
ii. Consult the Bible (in prayer) for a new holy view or knowledge. Jn. 5:39; 2 Tim. 3:15-17.
iii. Accept the revelation of God as your view which you are dedicated to obey. 1 Jn. 3:23; 2 Jn. 9; 1 Jn. 1:9.
b. Vs. 8. “Resist …”
i. The Devil come to us through evil knowledge. Jam. 3:15; 2 Pet. 3:17.
ii. He comes to us over and over again. Acts. 20:19.
iii. But we must let the Faith of Jesus Christ be the knowledge we constantly abide in. (1 Jn. 3:9; the seed is the Word of God - Lk. 8:11).
iv. Eventually the devilish knowledge will leave because you now have acquired a new habit of thinking Faith. 2 Cor. 10:4-6.
c. Vs. 8. “Draw nigh …”
i. We are near to God when the Divine Nature (God) dwells in us through Faith. Eph. 2:11-13; Eph. 3: 17.
ii. God is near and in us when the words of Christ dwells in us. Jn. 15:7; Col. 3:16; 1 Jn. 4:15,16.
iii. To draw nigh to God is to constantly study and abide in the Truth. Jn. 15:7; 1 Cor. 15:34.
iv. The cleansing of our hands begins by first cleansing the heart. Matt. 23:25,26.
v. Because everything comes from the heart. Matt. 15: 18,19.
vi. It is taking heed to the Word of God that cleanses. Ps. 119:9.
vii. The Truth of Christ in the heart is to be a substitute for the errors that usually dwell in the mind. 2 Cor. 4:6,7; Rom. 6:17.
d. Vs. 9. “Morn …”
i. This is a time to be solemn because it is the Judgment time. Lev. 16:29,30; Joel. 2:15-17.
c. Vs. 10. “Humble…”
i. To humble is to have a right esteem of oneself that one is nothing and God is all Things, or the Greatest. Ex. 34:5-8.
ii. This means to have a right view of the majesty and greatness of God and the depravity of man. Isa. 6:1-5; Lk. 5:4-9.
