Evangelicals Hatred For The Law of God

Evangelicals have developed anti-nomianism or an intense hatred for God’s Law. Despite the fact that scripture after scripture in the Bible declares that the Law of God must be kept if a man is to be saved, Evangelicals have blasphemously claimed that the Law of God was abolished at the death of Christ and Christians therefore do not have to keep it. These claims are to get away from the claim of the fourth commandment which enjoins Sabbath keeping, and to excuse their transgression of the Law of God. Here are Evangelicals’ antinomian statements. a. “From this incident, we see that the Sabbath was not necessary for entry into life, and that the last six (6) of the Ten Commandants do not teach love for one's neighbour.” Wordsworth N. Caesar. The Middle Wall of Partition That Jesus Christ Broke Down, p. 34. b. “Since law and grace are opposed to each other at every point, it is impossible for them to co-exist, either as the ground of acceptance before God or as the rule of life. Of necessity, therefore, the Scriptures of the New Testament which present the facts and scope of grace, both assume and directly teach that the law is done away. Consequently, it is not in force in the present age in any sense whatsoever. This present nullification of the law applies not only to the legal code of the Mosaic system and the law of the kingdom, but to every possible application of the principle of law ... the law
has now ceased, even in its widest meaning …” Lewis Sperry Chafer, Grace, pp. 215,216.
1. The Bible teaches that one Law was for both Israelite and non-Israelite. “One law and one judgement shall be for you and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.” Numbers 15:16. 2. God's commandments stand fast forever and ever. “The works of His hands are truth and judgement; all his commandants are sure, they stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and unrighteousness.” Psalms 111:7,8. 3. The Law of God converts. “The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul …” Psalms 19:7. 4. All God's Commandants are righteousness, how can they then be abolished? “My tongue shall speak of thy word, for alt thy commandments are righteousness.” Psalms 119:172. 5. Law-haters unite with the wicked while
law–keepers oppose them. “They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.” Proverbs 28:4. 6. God can't even hear the prayers of law-haters. “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law even his prayer shall be abomination.” Proverbs 28:9. 7. It is everyone's duty to keep the Law of God, for all shall be judged by the Law. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13,14. 8. To speak not according to the law means to have no light, but only darkness. “To the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20. 9. Gentiles must keep the righteousness of the Law.
“Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?” Romans 2:26. 10. Doers of the Law shall be justified (in the judgement). “For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” Romans 2:13.
11. No Law, no sin. “ ... for where no law is, there is no transgression.” Romans 4:15. . The real issue is keeping the Commandants. “Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.” 1 Corinthians 7:19. 13. The Law is written in the heart by God. “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days said the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.” Hebrews 10:16.
14. We love people when we keep God's Law, and the Law is not grievous to keep. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:2,3. 15. All the clauses of the Ten Commandments must be kept, this includes the Sabbath. “If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said Do not commit adultery, said also. Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.” James 2:812. 16. God’s people in the last days will keep His Law. “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12. 17. Those who enter into heaven are those only who have kept
the Law of God.
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14.
May God awaken the Evangelicals to the need for keeping His Law. Amen.
