James 2:14-26 long after Christ death wrote of a second type of justification (sanctification) where the holy faith base works of a person testifies of the faith in the person. As it is written the just shall live by faith, so their living shows their faith. Abraham works of offering up his son is mentioned and also Rahab works is mentioned as justifying them. All this is in the context that faith with out works is dead, because the first justification which is forgiveness and is done by God in transforming the person makes them a doer of the law. Thus their works testify of there justification. This testifying of their works is referred in James as justifying the person. However GCSDA's teach we are justified by Christ's works of obedience in place of us. That is totally different to scripture. Abraham was not shown to be justified by Christ's works obedience instead of Him, neither was Rahab.

We are told: “The inquiry of everyone should be ‘whose am I? To whom do I owe allegiance? Is my heart renewed? Is my soul reformed? Are my sins forgiven? Will they be blotted out when the time of refreshing shall come?” Ibid, pg. 419. We must needs examine ourselves to see if we...
