Walter McGill's comment in favor of keeping the feast days:
"If your teaching is true, then Adventists have no ground for setting Oct. 22, 1844 as a significant date in the time-clock of God. Please study the background for this doctrinal development".
My response to Bro. McGill:
The day of atonement (feast day) was fulfilled in 22nd October,1844 and has special significance to SDA's as it initiated the movement of Seventh Day Adventism. However all the events symbolized by the seven feast days are significant in the time clock of God. However the significance of the events (for example - the wave offering which symbolized the resurrection of Christ as the first fruits) in what you refer to as " in the time clock of God" does not indicate the feast days are to be kept now (For instance the sign circumcision has significance in understanding particular truths of God but is no longer to be kept and has been replaced by water baptism which is symbolic of being buried and resurrected with Christ - Rom.6:3-5). We must first understand the original intent and purpose in keeping of the feast days to understand if it is to be kept today.
The primary purpose of the feast days were to teach or show forth the gospel or the plan of salvation through symbols and ceremonies. Giving the knowledge of the gospel is of utmost importance for a knowledge of the gospel is needed for salvation from sin. However the showing forth of the gospel was far better testified (the new testament or new covenant) through the Person and works of Christ. As such the bible identifies that the Person and works of Christ as our heavenly High Priest has replaced the feast days as a teaching aid. See the following texts:
Col.2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, NAILING IT TO HIS CROSS;
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday (feast days), or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Hebrews 7:12 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law (law of the priest hood).
Heb.9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb.8:7-8 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a NEW covenant ...:

Note Christ give us a new passover (neo-pasach) ceremony which is referred to today as the communion service. God's will for to keep this ceremony would indicate the old passover ceremony with the killing of the passover Lamb was not to be kept again as it was replaced. Note also that the communion service is not linked to prophetic date to be fulfilled like the feast days. The focus of the ceremony is the flesh and blood of Christ represented by the bread and wine in denoting the experience of a clean heart through the word of Christ. In this ceremony which the Lord bid us keep we see the focus is not shadow symbols like a lamb or a mortal high priest but the focus is Christ the Lamb of God, our eternal High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.
The fact that the feast days give a knowledge of the time certain significant events were to take place in the plan of salvation cannot be sensibly used as a reason to keep them after the ceremonial law was abolished and nailed to the cross since the benefits were all to be obtained through Christ the Messiah.
Heb10:6-10 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
